Rosenior urges Chelsea to keep progressing despite cup exit
Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior insisted there were positives to take despite his side’s 1–0 defeat to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup, a result that brought an end to their five-match winning streak.
While the loss sealed Chelsea’s elimination, Rosenior felt the performance marked a clear improvement on the first leg, which took place during a chaotic period shortly after his appointment.
He explained that preparations for that earlier match had been disrupted by illness within the squad, with four players unavailable on the day and only three days having passed since he took charge.
Despite the setback, Rosenior praised his players’ commitment and attitude, saying their intensity, effort and fighting spirit could not be questioned.
He stressed that the current phase represents the beginning of a longer process rather than a finished product, adding that he is encouraged by much of what he is seeing on the pitch.
While results remain important, Rosenior underlined the need for the squad to rest, recover and continue improving as the season progresses.
